MGB4A, MAPA Conducted Safety and Health Awareness

MGB4a-photos-1The Mining Environment and Safety Division (MESD) of Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Region IVA CALABARZON headed by Dondi Sarmiento conducted Mine Safety and Health training and seminar at the Rock Resort in Brgy. San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal in coordination with Montalban Aggregate Producers Association (MAPA) chaired by Mr. Rolando T. Angeles. The three-day event is designed to provide information to quarry/crushing plant operators, workers and the LGU’s about mine safety and health. Topics addressed during the event also include Emergency Preparedness and Basic First Aid and Life Support Program.

It was participated by various representatives from different Barangay of the Municipality of Rodriguez and from the crushing / quarrying companies in the Province of Rizal. New techniques on how to execute the basic principles, guidelines in giving emergency care and accident prevention was discussed with practical drill exams.

The objective of this training and seminar is to reduce accidents and improve health conditions in the quarrying/crushing industry through education and training.

"Accidents at sites are a major concern, and our focus is on preventing work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities," said Mr. Rolly Angeles, MAPA president. "This training/seminar is helping to achieve our goal by providing information on a wide range of safety- and health-related subjects to employers, employees and the community."

The event was made possible through the help of Rodriguez Mayor, Cecilio C. Hernandez, who offer his resort as a training venue for free.
